Today’s journey invites you to experience the awe-inspiring Genghis Khan Statue at Tsonjin Boldog—a grand tribute to Mongolia’s legendary figure who once ruled over vast territories.
Imagine standing before a majestic 40-meter-high (131 foot) statue, beautifully detailed in historical attire that evokes Mongolia’s vibrant past. This statue transcends mere symbolism, offering visitors an immersive glimpse into the remarkable life and legacy of Genghis Khan, a leader whose impact forever shaped history.
Step inside to find an interactive museum filled with fascinating exhibits detailing Khan’s humble beginnings, dramatic rise, and the historic conquests that built an expansive empire.
Ascend to the viewing platform atop the horse’s head for a captivating panoramic view, where sweeping grasslands and distant mountains stretch out before you like pages from an epic story.
10:00 AM – Hotel Pickup
Your Mongolia Genghis Khan Statue Day Tour begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Ulaanbaatar. As you head east toward the open steppe, your guide will introduce you to Mongolia’s rich history and the legacy of Genghis Khan. The drive offers a chance to enjoy sweeping views of rolling hills, nomadic herder camps, and the vast, unspoiled countryside.
Visit the Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex
Arriving at Tsonjin Boldog, you’ll be greeted by the awe-inspiring sight of the world’s tallest equestrian statue. Standing 40 meters high and clad in stainless steel, the monument depicts Genghis Khan on horseback, gazing east toward his birthplace. Inside the complex, explore an engaging museum featuring artifacts from the Mongol Empire — including traditional saddles, weapons, and ceremonial costumes.
Climb the staircase or take the elevator up to the horse’s head, where panoramic views of the surrounding landscape stretch out in every direction. Your guide will share the story of this location, believed to be the place where Genghis Khan discovered his golden whip.
Lunch at a Ger Camp Restaurant
Continue to a nearby ger camp restaurant for a traditional Mongolian lunch. Sample iconic dishes such as buuz (steamed dumplings) and huushuur (fried meat pies), freshly prepared and served in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Dining inside a ger offers a taste of nomadic hospitality and a glimpse into Mongolia’s rural way of life.
Optional Stop – Souvenirs or Giant Boot Monument
If time allows, make a quick stop at a local craft shop to browse handmade felt goods, leatherwork, and cashmere products. Alternatively, visit the Giant Mongolian Boot Monument — a fun and quirky photo spot along the way.
Return to Ulaanbaatar
In the late afternoon, begin the scenic drive back to the capital, taking in the landscape one last time. Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar in the early evening, your guide can recommend dinner options or evening activities to continue your Mongolian experience. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel, concluding a day filled with history, culture, and unforgettable views.
